Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how buildbysuyog.com (“the site”, operated by Build by Suyog, Pune, India) uses cookies and similar technologies, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who visits the site, wherever you are in the world. For how I handle personal data more generally, please read the Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in much the same way. They are used to make a site function, to remember your preferences, and sometimes to measure usage or show advertising.

2. The short version

  • This site uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use the pages. Where the law requires consent (for example in the EU and UK), analytics cookies are set only after you accept them.
  • The site does not use advertising, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies.
  • I do not sell your personal information.
  • Everything else stored on your device is functional, and is listed below.

If this changes, for example if I add advertising or another tracking tool, I will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

3. What this site stores on your device

Strictly necessary and functional

  • Cookie consent choice (names beginning cmplz_, set by the Complianz consent tool). Remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies so the banner does not keep reappearing. Kept for up to 12 months.
  • Appearance preference (bbs-theme, stored in your browser’s local storage). Remembers whether you chose the light or dark display. It stays on your device until you clear it and is never sent to my server.

Analytics (with your consent where required)

  • Google Analytics 4 (cookies _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier). These give each browser a random ID so Google Analytics can count visitors and sessions and see which pages are viewed, how visitors arrived, and roughly where they are (country or city level) and what device and browser they use. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. The cookies last up to 2 years unless you delete them sooner. The data is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy, and I use it only to improve the site. To opt out across all websites, you can install Google’s browser opt-out add-on.

Security (contact form)

  • Google reCAPTCHA (items such as _GRECAPTCHA and entries beginning rc::). Where enabled, reCAPTCHA runs on the contact page to stop automated spam. It analyses signals such as your IP address and how your browser behaves, and is operated by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It is used only to protect the form.

Fonts

  • Google Fonts. The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which means your IP address and browser details are sent to Google when a page loads. Google Fonts does not set cookies for this purpose.

Site administration

  • WordPress login and settings cookies (such as wordpress_*, wp-settings-*). These are set only for people who log in to manage the site. Ordinary visitors do not receive them.

4. Third-party links

The site links to other services such as Upwork, LinkedIn and X. Nothing from those services is embedded on my pages. If you click a link you leave this site, and that service’s own cookie and privacy policies apply.

5. Your choices

  • Cookie banner. Where you see a consent banner you can accept or decline analytics and other non-essential items, and change your mind later using the cookie settings button on the page.
  • Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser at any time. Most browsers explain how in their help pages. Blocking functional items may mean the display preference is not remembered, and blocking reCAPTCHA may prevent the contact form from working. You can always email me instead.
  • Privacy signals. I do not use advertising or cross-site tracking. If you would rather not be counted in analytics, decline analytics cookies in the banner or use the opt-out add-on above.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data collected about you, for example under the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, or Australia’s Privacy Act. These generally include the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. 7. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the site changes or the law requires it. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
